The Harlem Shake, 2013's Gangnam?

The Harlem Shake has smashed onto the scene, and I must admit I needed to catch up quick to find out what on earth is going on. The Shake originated back in 1981 thanks to  a man who goes by the name "Al B", and then we saw it in a YouTube Video back in 2006. But in 2013 it has burst onto the scene as quick as Gangnam Style. We can only hope that it doesn't get as annoying.

There have been so many videos already with the Harlem Shake, so I am pretty sure that if you do not already know about it, you will soon. Below here is the video that started the craze.

That video has since been viewed over 2.3 million times and spawned countless variations and parodies by everyone from the Norwegian military, to the Peanuts gang, to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and even firemen inside their trucks.

What is cool is that pretty much anyone can make a parody video. It doesn't require any special effects or back up dancers. Here is one of my favourites of the Harlem Shake, maybe this one took a bit of effort.

But you know what, it seems South Africans can do it as well here we have The Braai Harlem Shake. To be perfectly honest, you have got to love the SA flavour, oh and the guy with the hosepipe, it's just classic
